Concept

The landscape is described with various terraces formed with dry stone retaining walls and a number of trees that add a vertical tension to the Cycladic terrain. The building form responds organically to these two main features of the landscape; the dry stone terraces and existing trees. The retaining wall unfolds, creating living space on the two terraces. The lower terrace volume contains the bedrooms, whilst the upper volume, which rises to meet the adjacent tree, contains the living spaces.

Η κατοικία συντίθεται σε οργανική σχέση με τα δύο χαρακτηριστικά του τόπου: τους αναλημματικούς τοίχους που δημιουργούν τις πεζούλες στο κυκλαδίτικο τοπίο και τα υφιστάμενα λιγοστά δέντρα. Καθώς ο αναλημματικός τοίχος αναδιπλώνεται δημιουργούνται εκατέρωθεν χώροι στους δύο αναβαθμούς. Ένα νέο πέτρινο κτίσμα δημιουργείται στον χαμηλότερο - οι χώροι διανυκτέρευσης - και ένας λευκός όγκος ολισθαίνει αναφορικά με το υπάρχον δέντρο, στον ανώτερο - ο χώρος διημέρευσης.
